The building industry is leading the way in adopting and promoting eco-friendly practices and technologies. This goes a long way to addressing environmental issues holistically. Sustainable building practices are embraced by all stakeholders. Green buildings are not only a way to conserve resources, but also improve the quality of living of their occupants. In order to achieve this, the focus is now on people and their wellbeing. Indian Green Building Council works with various stakeholders, such as state and federal governments, NGOs and bilateral, multilateral agencies, including WorldGBC, in this mission. The green building movement is being spearheaded by the Indian Green Building Council, which plays a catalyst role.IGBC is a part of CII and it promotes the building industry in India.
Over 13 Billion sq.ft. of green space in India is now IGBC certified. India is now one of the three largest countries in the world for registered green building footprint. IGBC will hold its 23rd edition 'Green Building Congress,' at Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, India, on November 27, 28, and 29 2025.
