Rock and Gem Show 2018 Highlights
The event hosted by the Victoria Lapidary and Mineral Society featured a wide variety of vendors specializing in minerals, gems, jewelry, and lapidary arts.
- Cabochons & Lapidary Arts: New Stone Age Cabochons offered designer cabochons, including rare leopard opal and turquoise. The Aesthetics Underground featured fine mineral specimens and lapidary art.
- Gemstones & Appraisals: GemFinders International and C D Gemcraft provided gemologist expertise, identifications, appraisals, and quality gemstones. Ammolite World specialized in ammolite and lapis.
- Opals & Crystals: Walkabout Gems showcased opals from various global regions. Sahara Minerals, Forest Crystals, and Milliza’s Cave offered crystals, minerals, and crystal healing services.
- Jewelry & Beads: Vendors like Jakob Salix Jewelry (wire sculpting), Mike Hill Designs (custom jewelry), A Plus Beads (natural stone beads and pearls), Bamboo Beads and Bling, Dragonfly Design, and RainCoast Jewelry Design presented handcrafted jewelry and beading supplies. Silvia Findings provided jewelry components.
- Minerals & Fossils: Vancouver Island Rocks displayed local tabular quartz, while Fossil Grotto and Milliza’s Cave offered fossils.
- Placer Mining: The Vancouver Island Placer Miners Association (VIPMA) shared local gold panning history and the Nellie Cashman project.
