Galveston Island Oktoberfest is the island's annual family-friendly German festival, held October 23–24, 2026 in downtown Galveston, Texas, on the grounds and surrounding streets of First Lutheran Church (24th & Winnie, 2415 Winnie St.). Admission is free. The event features live German music, traditional food and drinks (imported German beer, bratwurst and knockwurst, German dinners, strudel), a German costume contest, the Chicken Dance contest, a Cake Wheel, a steinholding (Masskrugstemmen) competition, and local arts-and-crafts vendors. The ceremonial keg tapping opens the festival on Friday. Proceeds support the church's community programs including Feed Galveston and Fanfare!. The festival covers two blocks from 23rd to 25th streets.
