The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka, is the successor of the "Engineering Association of Ceylon", which was established in 1906. The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka became an incorporated government body in 1968, after an Act of Parliament. The IESL, as the Apex body of Sri Lanka's engineering professionals, with a membership exceeding 25,000, was mandated by Parliament to represent their profession in many national forums, and to contribute to the nation's development. With the Vision of being among the leading professional engineering and technology institutions in the world, the IESL has launched techno Sri Lanka to "Bring out and Unleash the Country's Multi-Disciplinary Engineers, to Drive Sri Lanka into technological excellence, and to Revolutionary Uplifting.
