National Black Book Festival 2026
About
The 19th annual National Black Book Festival (NBBF) takes place October 22–24, 2026 at Fallbrook Church Brook Sports Facility, 12512 Walters Road, Houston, TX 77014. The festival is sponsored by Cushcity.com and is billed as the largest African-American book event in the South. More than 120 authors from 20+ genres exhibit and sell their books.
General admission to author exhibits, seminars, featured-author sessions, and the Saturday Children's Festival is free. Special events require advance tickets (deadline Friday, October 16, 2026). No door sales for those ticketed events.
Dates and exhibit hours
- Thursday, October 22, 2026: Welcome Reception at 7:00 p.m. (ticketed; business casual). Vendor check-in only 5:00–9:00 p.m. (no exhibit set-up Thursday).
- Friday, October 23, 2026: Exhibit hours 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Get Acquainted Breakfast 9:30–10:45 a.m. (ticketed). Author Enhancement Sessions 1:00–4:00 p.m. (free).
- Saturday, October 24, 2026: Exhibit hours 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Networking & Awards Breakfast 8:00–9:30 a.m. (ticketed; 2026 Black Authors Matter Children's Book Awards announced). Children's Festival 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (free; each child receives one free book). Featured author sessions noon–4:00 p.m.
Exhibit hours are not the same both public days (Friday 11:00–19:00, Saturday 10:00–18:00).
Venue
All festival events are at Fallbrook Church Brook Sports Facility, 12512 Walters Road, Houston, TX 77014 (Fallbrook Church North Campus). Sunday worship at Fallbrook is 8:00 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. for attendees staying the weekend.
Host hotel: Sheraton North Houston (group rate deadline October 2/3, 2026). NBBF provides complimentary shuttle to and from the Sheraton. Recommended airport: IAH (George Bush Intercontinental).
