The American Society of Safety Professionals is a non-profit professional organization that has more than 34,000 members around the world. ASSP's mission promotes the technical, scientifically, managerial, and ethical knowledge and competence of HSE professionals in order to protect people, property, and the environment.
Established in 1982, the Middle East Chapter (ASSP–MEC) has hosted several technical meetings and conferences in the Gulf. These events attracted many international speakers and exhibitors, as well as a large number attendees.
Previous conferences were a success due to the wide range of topics covered, the sharing and diffusion of knowledge and the resulting discussions. ASSP-MEC was inspired to hold its conference in Bahrain, January 27-31 2019.
