The Great Scale Model Train Show 2027
The Great Scale Model Train Show (GSMTS) is one of the largest scale model railroad events in the Mid-Atlantic, operating for more than three decades under Makin Tracks LLC. The show focuses on scale rail modeling from Z through G gauge, hi-rail, brass, structures, scenery, and railroad artifacts—not toy or doll shows.
Visitors tour juried operating layouts, free clinics, and vendor halls with hundreds of tables selling locomotives, rolling stock, scenery, books, and memorabilia. Sellers and clubs use the fairgrounds loading doors, trolleys, and on-site power; white-elephant tables let hobbyists sell personal items on the show floor.
Shows run on a fixed annual rhythm: the first full weekend of February, the second full weekend of April, and the last full weekend of October. The next listed edition is February 6–7, 2027 at the Maryland State Fairgrounds, 2200 York Road, Timonium, MD 21093. Typical hours are 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Saturday and 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. Sunday. Advance tickets and reminders are announced on the official gsmts.com site and its linked Google Sites hub.
