New Presidents Academy (NPA) 2026
The New Presidents Academy is a comprehensive leadership program tailored for first-time presidents and chancellors of state colleges and universities. The 2026 cohort will engage in a multi-format learning experience running from July to December 2026.
Program Structure
- In-Person Intensive: July 22–25 at Omni La Costa, Carlsbad, California.
- Virtual Sessions: Monthly interactive cohort gatherings via Zoom (August–October).
- Annual Conference: Half-day gathering in conjunction with AASCU’s Annual Conference, November 13–16 in Savannah, GA.
- Mentoring: Formal mentoring with experienced presidents (October 2026–May 2027).

Program Objectives
The academy aims to provide practical orientation, create a supportive community of peers and seasoned mentors, and help participants assess their university's current state and senior team effectiveness. The curriculum is annually updated to address the evolving challenges in higher education leadership.
