Modern Language Association (MLA) Annual Convention 2027
The Modern Language Association (MLA) Annual Convention is the flagship meeting of the MLA, drawing members and guests from around the world to share research, teaching practices, and professional development. The 2027 edition—the 142nd MLA Annual Convention—runs 7–10 January 2027 in Los Angeles, California, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The presidential theme for MLA 2027 is Emancipatory Narratives. Sessions cover language, literature, writing, pedagogy, media studies, and related fields. Meetings may be held in person or online (online sessions are marked in the program). The convention includes a Professional Development Hub, career programs, the MLA Exhibit Hall (8–10 January), preconvention workshops, the Presidential Address, and the MLA Awards Ceremony.
Registration: MLA member registration is open via the official preregistration site; nonmember registration opens in October. Convention registration is required to attend sessions in person or online, visit the exhibit hall, or use the Professional Development Hub. Official hotel reservations are available through the MLA housing platform operated by Convention Management Resources (CMR).
